The Great organ is purely a diapason organ and shall develop a commanding body of pure dignified organ tone dominating the entire organ, with the exception of the solo tubas. The effort will be approximate the diapason chorus found in the best examples of English organ building. The effect to be gained will be purity, dignity and clearness.

*It is not clear if these two stops were located in the Great box or in the Solo box, as there is conflicting information on the subject. However, the strongest suggestion is that both were in the Great.
The Diapasons shall halve on the eighteenth note, shall be equipped with slide tuners and shall be made of heavy metal containing at least forty per cent. tin, the balance of lead. The thickness of the walls shall be sufficient to obtain a firm tone and the Diapasons shall weigh not less than 90 pounds from tenor F to the top note. Heavy zinc bases will be allowed. Part of the Double Open Diapason and 1st and 2nd Open Diapason will be required for display pipes in the front. The 1st Open Diapason will be the principal foundation stop in the organ and shall be voiced to produce extreme fullness and dignity, dominating effectively the voices of all other unison stops of the Diapason family. It must be of pure organ tone, practically free from audible upper partials. Extreme care must be taken in the manufacture and design of this stop.
This and the other Diapasons are to have low-cut mouths, wide flattening and be very liberally winded so as to produce the quality of tone desired. The Schultz Diapasons are the type of Diapason tone desired.
The Tibia Clausa shall be a large scale wood stop producing a full fundamental tone, and the Harmonic Flute (harmonic from tenor G) shall be of full scale, not too assertive, but capable of uniting with the Tibia and the Diapasons to build up a brilliant ensemble. The Harmonic Trumpet shall be harmonic from c2 and shall measure five inches across the bell at CC. The Traverse Flute shall be harmonic from c1.
The Two-rank Mixture shall be...without breaks and of pure organ tone and so made and voiced as to blend perfectly with the Diapasons, reinforcing the upper partials, but without asserting itself. The exact composition of the Three-rank Mixture will be given in the detailed specification, but is intended to reinforce the upper partials of the Diapason chorus. The entire Diapason chorus must unite in one ensemble, the tone of all the constituents being absorbed in each other. Therefore great care must be taken in the voicing of the Mixture and of the non-unison ranks.
The Chimes shall be one and three-quarter inch compass from G to G, twenty-five notes. The make of the Chimes shall be equal to that made by Mayland or Deagan, shall be free of offensive upper partials, must be true to pitch and of agreeable tone. The Harp shall consist of composition bars of a make to be submitted to and approved by the architect. The Double Trumpet, Harmonic Trumpet and Clarion shall consist of one unit of eighty-five pipes.
